Friday, June 6th is going to be a fun one on Texas Street!
Our Byrd Documentary will be premiering all day long at the Robinson Film Center at 617 Texas Street. Purchase your ticket to see this monumental film on the big screen! ONE DAY ONLY! It plays every hour on the hour. robinsonfilmcenter.org
Texas Street will shut down to traffic at 5:30pm so that Byrd patrons can take over Texas Street with a Street Party Through the Decades!
From 6-9pm
- 1940s & 1950s graduates will meet upstairs at Abby Singer's Bistro in the Robinson Film Center at 617 Texas Street
- 1960s will meet at the 421 Texas Street Venue
- 1970s will meet at The Missing Link at 504 Texas Street
- 1980s will meet at Rhino Coffee at 624 Texas Street
- 1990s will meet at Noble Savage at 417 Texas Street
- 2000s and above will meet at Fatty Arbuckles and the Red River District under the Texas Street Bridge
SHUTTLE SERVICE: 5:00pm-9:30pm
- Shuttles will begin running at 5:00pm and run every 20 min.
- They will pick up at Sam's Town, Hilton, and the parking lot behind First Methodist Church (in that order).
- The last shuttle will depart from Texas Street at 9:30pm.
PARKING:
- Valet will be available at the head of Texas Street near Common. This will be the best parking option for our 40s, 50s, and 80s graduates.
- Shuttles will run from the Hilton and Sam's Town Hotels for drop off near the Robinson.
- The First Methodist parking lots are open to us to use for free parking and our shuttles will be running there to pick you up!
- Street parking downtown is free after 5pm.
- Douglas Parking Lots are available but are always pay to park. This includes the big Regions parking garage near Noble Savage, which requires a credit card. So the 60s, 70s and 90s decades may want to park there.
- Casino parking garages are always available as well and parking is free along Commerce Street. These will be good options for the 2000s graduates.
- Ubers and Lyfts are great options too.
FOOD:
Each decade venue will have food and drinks for purchase but there are other options too
- Ono's Hawaiian Grill at 708 Texas Street
- Papion's Creole Bistreaux at 500 Texas Street
- Blind Tiger
- Abby Singer's Bistro
FUN:
- Shreveport Regional Arts Coucil will have their doors open at Artspace and would love for all Byrd Alumni so come have a cold drink and browse their art exhibit featuring artwork by local artists. Maybe even some artwork created by Byrd Alumni! Go check it out and don't forget to snap a picture in front of their Byrd Centennial mural window! Take a pic and text it to our Byrd Alumni cell phone 318.286.7890
- Make sure to checkout the Texas St. bridge that will be lit up purple and gold for the entire weekend!
SECURITY AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES:
- An EMS unit will be available during this event from 6pm-9pm provided by the City of Shreveport.
- The Centennial Committee has worked closely with the Shreveport Police Department to ensure we have extra security in place to keep all Byrd Alumni safe as they celebrate with their decades. A special Thank You to all of our Decades Sponsors whose sponsorships helped cover this cost. Thanks for keeping us safe!
